The following illustrates a standard operating procedure (SOP) for processing your aligned 3D data in FotoView.

Prerequisites

  • 3D foot scan aligned in FotoView

Refer to the following guide for more information:

📋 SOP: Aligning 3D Scan in FotoView

  • Skive applied - if requested on Machined EVA prescription form

Refer to the following guide for more information:

📋 SOP: Applying a Heel Skive in FotoView

Goals

  • Process the 3D scan mesh in FotoView
  • Set the Cut Plane Height according to your requirements
  • Use the Set Edges to apply smoothing

Procedure

General Procedure

  1. After aligning the scan click Process → Process Foot Data

  2. Select your Cut Plane Height and click Select.

  1. Click Yes to set edges, if you would like to perform smoothing on the mesh used to generate your orthotic model.

  2. A window will appear that will allow you to smooth the perimeter of the orthotic mesh. The window will contain an input called Top Surface Elevation and an input called Fairing Elevation Surface.

Top Surface Elevation should be set as the thickness of the EVA, less the Orthosis Thickness.

If your Orthosis Thickness is 2mm and your EVA material is 30mm, then your Top Surface Elevation should be set to 28mm.

Fairing Elevation Surface is the lowest height that will have smoothing applied. Anything below the Fairing Elevation Surface value will not be affected by the smoothing when clicking Fair Mesh.

It is currently recommended to keep the Fairing Elevation Surface set to 20mm.

  1. Click Accept to confirm the smoothing of the mesh.

  2. After processing both feet, click Process → Write Foot Data

You may now open the Editor application to continue modelling.
