The following illustrates a standard operating procedure (SOP) for aligning a 3D foot scan in RapidShell3D.
Prerequisites
Prescription loaded into RapidShell3D
Refer to the following guide for more information:
Goals
- Align a 3D foot scan in RapidShell3D
Procedure
Click Files β Display Left Foot
A 3D scan of the patientβs left foot should now appear on the screen
Click Place Points
In specific order, click the Heel Point β 1st MPJ Centre Point β 5th MPJ Centre Point
Click Align for Valgus or Align for Varus
Click Accept
Click Apply
Position the scan in the Plantar view using the controls along the bottom toolbar
Position the scan in the Heel view using controls along the bottom toolbar according to a provided Acceptable Reference Measurement.
Method 1: Heel Bisection Measurement
π SOP: Heel Bisection Measurement
You may use the blue Z-axis line to reference the heel bisection in neutral (0Β°). You can then use the Invert and Evert controls from the bottom toolbar to rotate the scan into the alignment specified in the Scan Angle field on the prescription.
Method 2: Forefoot Varus/Valgus Alignment Methodπ SOP: Forefoot Varus/Valgus Measurement
If a Forefoot Varus or Forefoot Valgus measurement has been recorded on the prescription form, RapidShell3D will automatically rotate the 3D scan to this value. You will need to measure the alignment to ensure that you have accurately rotated the 3D scan.Position the scan in the Medial view so that the blue Z-axis line is breaking through the heel of the scan at approximately 20mm in height
Your 3D scan should now be aligned in RapidShell3D, and you should be ready to generate your orthosis model.
