Procedure
General Procedure

Click Files → Display Left Foot
A 3D scan of the patient’s left foot should now appear on the screen
Click Place Points
In specific order, click the Heel Point → 1st MPJ Centre Point → 5th MPJ Centre Point
Click Align for Valgus or Align for VarusClick Accept
Click ApplyPosition the scan in the Medial view so that the blue Z-axis line is breaking through the heel of the scan at approximately 20mm in height
The prescription form may contain values for Forefoot Varus or Forefoot Valgus. If such values exist, please click the corresponding button.
The Distances box will display a distance between the Heel Centre point and 1st MPJ centre point that were placed on the 3D scan surface during Step 4. If a prescription value exists for Heel Centre to 1st MPJ (mm)a Scale Factor will appear and allow for automatic scaling of the 3D scan. Please note that it is not recommended to scale 3D scans captured with the LaserCAM VPS 3D scanner, or any other scanner that is known to capture highly accurate 3D foot scans.
Position the scan in the Plantar view using the controls along the bottom toolbar
Position the scan in the Heel view using controls along the bottom toolbar according to a provided Acceptable Reference Measurement.
Method 1: Heel Bisection Measurement

You may use the blue Z-axis line to reference the heel bisection in neutral (0°). You can then use the Invert and Evert controls from the bottom toolbar to rotate the scan into the alignment specified in the Scan Angle field on the prescription.
Method 2: Forefoot Varus/Valgus Alignment Method

If a Forefoot Varus or Forefoot Valgus measurement has been recorded on the prescription form, RapidShell3D will automatically rotate the 3D scan to this value. You will need to measure the alignment to ensure that you have accurately rotated the 3D scan.

Adjust Mesh → Any View
Click Close from the Adjust Mesh toolbar
The Skive menu option will now be selectableClick Skive from the top menu
A Skive Plate will now appear on the display in an orientation specified by the Depth and Degree values specified on the Machined EVA prescription.The Skive Plate controls will also appear, which provides fine control over the position of the Skive Plate
Use the Skive Plate controls to orientate the Skive Plate according to the prescriptive variables
Click Close to save the Skive

Depth/Degree Method
When Depth/Degree Method is selected on the Machined EVA prescription form, it will be visible under the 3D Scan Alignment header, within the Skive row.

Follow Steps 1-4 of the General Procedure listed above
Click View → Back
Check the Degree of your Skive Plate using the Measure → Angle tool
Click View → Right Side (left foot) / View → Left Side (right foot)
Use the Pitch Fore/Aft control to match the specified Inclination
Orientate the Skive Plate so that you can accurately measure the Depth
Check the Depth of your Skive Plate using the Measure → Distance tool
Click Close to save the Skive
STJ Axis Method
When STJ Axis Method is selected on the Machined EVA prescription form, it will be visible under the 3D Scan Alignment header, within the Skive row.

Follow Steps 1-4 of the General Procedure listed above
Click View → Bottom
Use the Rotate L/R control to rotate the Skive Plate in-line with the STJ axis
Use the Skive Angle control to rotate the Skive Plate so that it is medial to the STJ axis
If you are applying a lateral Skive, you should ensure that the Skive Plate is lateral the STJ axis
Use the Pitch Fore/Aft control to match the specified Inclination
Orientate the Skive Plate so that you can accurately measure the Depth
Check the Depth of your Skive Plate using the Measure → Distance tool
Click Close to save the Skive
